This is an examination to qualify Parachute Riggers up to Advanced Rigger status
• The course is held over a minimum total period of four days
• Notification of the course must be given to the riggers committee via the
BPA office prior to the start of the course.
• 2 Rigger Examiners per course from different establishments
• Maximum of 4 candidates per Rigger Examiner
Each candidate must pass the written test before they can proceed
with the rest of the examination
• Submission of previous manufactured components for inspection
• Submission of a full piggyback harness and ram air reserve container system
to an approved design, including all component parts
• Major canopy repair (rounds and squares)
• Major container repair
• Courses must be run at a parachute rigging establishment acceptable
to the riggers committee
• The establishment must have a minimum of 1 sewing machine per 2 candidates
• Cleared for all work on all sport parachute assemblies
• Manufacture of new components must be identified by the Advanced Rigger’s
label or stamp
• All modifications may need to be justified by the Advanced Rigger
• Modifications to equipment used by student parachutists require acceptance
from the BPA riggers committee via submission of BPA form 209
• A course report will be sent to the BPA office and rigging
committee and to the candidate’s supervising rigger
• All Advanced Riggers must keep a log of all work done.
• Advanced Riggers must have their BPA membership card endorsed,
to be renewed each year with membership
• The renewal form will have to be signed by an Advanced Rigger who must be
satisfied that the AR is current and up to date with current practices.
